'The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour'.

...to work towards which is a major leap from where we are now...... to effectively reach a tenth of Netherton. That would mean 1400 people! Clearly that degree of growth is not in our hands. It is Jesus who promises to build his Church. We are, though, trying to gear up for growth as well as continuing to reach out to the community in loads of different ways.

The passage from the Bible which God has given to Emmanuel as his word for the kind of ministry the church is to be engaged, are the words that Jesus read out at the beginning of his ministry (which you can read at the top of this page). The pace of change at Emmanuel is getting faster, but the reason is a good one. There is a world in need of the love and power of Jesus Christ to save them.

He is calling to his people: 'Who will go and whom shall I

send?' We want to answer... 'Here I am Lord, send me.'

Reach people and

bring them to Jesus.

Restore them into His family.

Reshape them into

Christ-like maturity.

Release them into ministry.
